The Big City
Okay, let's be honest. Unless you're coming for business, you only need one full day in Casablanca. It's massive, modern, and feels more like a standard huge city than a historical Moroccan town. But you absolutely cannot skip it, purely because of one building.
The Hassan II Mosque
This thing is unbelievable. It's the largest mosque in Africa and one of the few in Morocco that non-Muslims are actually allowed to go inside. Half of it is built directly over the Atlantic Ocean, and the minaret is 210 meters tall. The guided tour inside takes about 45 minutes, and the tile work and wood carving will leave you speechless. Seriously, even if you hate guided tours, do this one.
The Corniche
After the mosque, take a walk down the Corniche (the beach boardwalk). It's full of beach clubs, expensive restaurants, and families hanging out. It's a great place to people-watch and see how young, modern Moroccans spend their weekends.
Rick's Café
Yes, they built a real replica of the bar from the classic movie 'Casablanca'. No, the movie wasn't actually filmed there (it was shot in Hollywood). But the restaurant is real, it has a guy playing the piano, and the food is actually pretty good. You need to book well in advance and dress nicely to get in.
